Girl, 6, dead after falling from bedroom window of North York apartment building

Toronto police say a six-year-old girl has died after falling from an apartment building in North York on Sunday night.

Officers were called to the highrise on Chalkfarm Drive near Jane Street, north of Wilson Avenue, around 8:15 p.m. for reports of someone falling from an apartment building.



When police arrived, they located the deceased child and confirmed she had fallen from a bedroom window.

Residents from the apartment building tell CityNews the girl, who had non-verbal autism, appears to have fallen from the 28th floor of the building.

The investigation is ongoing but police say the death does not appear to be suspicious.

No further details have been released.
