The investigation revealed participants were allegedly involved in auto theft, drug trafficking, extortion and conspiracy to commit murder.

The officers are also accused of leaking addresses to hit men and leaking police officer addresses, sources told the CBC. An alleged conspiracy to kill a unit commander at Toronto South Detention Centre was also uncovered, CBC reported.

“This is absolutely horrendous” if true, one police source with knowledge of the probe told the Toronto Sun. “This is one of the darkest days in the history of the Toronto Police Service.”
