“Still spreadin’ hate in 2023? Can’t be for real.

A woman was riding a southbound train from Vaughan Metropolitan Station around 4:50 p.m. March 9 when a man came up and started talking to her.

She told police the man became upset and took out a knife, so she ran from the train when it stopped at the Wilson Subway Station in the Allen Road and Wilson Avenue area.

Police believe the woman was targeted because of her Muslim faith and after consulting with the Hate Crime Unit, it’s being treated as a suspected hate crime.
