This striking new mural retells a story of racism on the TTC

Janorris Armogan was on the bus heading home from work when she saw a painful scene.

A man and a woman were running from an office building toward a bus about to pull away from its stop.

The man ran faster and made it to the bus only a few steps before the woman. The bus driver let him on, but slammed the door on the woman, who was Black, Armogan told the Star in 1992.

Armogan vowed to never run for a bus again so no one could have the “satisfaction of slamming a door in (her) face.” Armogan often rode the TTC from Flemingdon Park to her job downtown.
